Walnut effect laminate floor - Approx 20msq installed at Highland Lifts offices in the Leith area of Edinburgh. The client called on Saturday looking to have the flooring installed in time for the new premises opening on the Monday. The floor was installed by Sunday afternoon. The proprietor asked Kris back to install laminate in another office. He then asked Kris to install a new floor at his home. Much of the work Kris does is repeat custom and word of mouth!

Renovation work in kitchen - This involved updating existing kitchen units, replacing old worktop with new beech block effect worktop. Kris also added a spur socket to supply power to a new external security light and concealed all wires behind the plasterboard. Kris finished this job by Painting the ceiling and walls and installing floor tiles and a tiled splash back.

Sash window renovation - This job was done for a residential client in Edinburgh's Newtown. The job involved removing all sash windows, stripping all paint work on window frames back to the bare wood and making any required repairs to the timber. All windows were draught proofed with brush pile which was inserted into a groove that Kris routered into the windows, the windows were all re-roped, all bare wood was primed and glossed, loose putty was hacked away and renewed. To compliment the refurbished windows Kris installed traditional styled brass ironmongery. After this work the windows could slide up open easily and both noise and heat loss were greatly reduced due to the unique 'seal and glide' draughtproofing system used.

Bathroom and Kitchen floor tiling -
This was done for a residential client. The job involved lifting existing vinyl floor. Kris then installed 18mm exterior grade plywood which was screwed every 150mm. Kris then primed the floor and fixed the 400x400 ceramic tiles.

Timber fence - This job involved removing old 1 metre high wire fence, removing neglected hedging and then erecting new timber fence with strong 4x4 posts planted to a depth of 600mm into the ground with the width of the hole being no more than 300mm wide to ensure that this fences stands up to the toughest of winds.

Custom made baby gate - This was constructed with timber. It was required by the client as no standard baby gates could fit securely at the top of the stair. The gate was securely fixed to wall and stair giving the client piece of mind.

Custom made Toybox - This was constructed with  Pine and MDF. The toy box was then primed given and undercoat and then finnished with an acrylic eggshell.

Recessed ceiling lights - Installed in a bathroom.

Joinery work - This involved removing old doors and replacing with new four panelled pine doors and fitting new chrome ironmongery. The external front door was showing signs of rot, so this was replaced with a solid oak door and fitted with a 5 lever mortice lock and a Yale nightlatch. Some of the skirting and architrave was replaced also.

Laminate & carpet
- This was the second stage to a job that Kris had previously been working on. After completing joinery work a few months before, it was now time to install some laminate flooring and a new carpet.

Tiling - This involved tiling the walls of a recently adapted disabled shower room. The walls were tiled in white 25x40 ceramic tiles and incorporating a glass mosaic border as a feature.

Building Film Set - This was a film set that was built in Edinburgh. It was constructed in the film studio at Edinburgh College of Art for a short film. The work involved constructing a 7mtr x 3mtr room incorporating two windows and one door. The room then had false sockets fitted, trimmed out with skirting, facings as well as cills and aprons made around the windows. The room was decorated and furnished after Kris had done the carpentry.

plastering skimming plaster repair
Plastering wall - This involved plastering over an old door opening. The wall wasnt very flat or plumb around the door opening so I had to straighten the wall around this area. Kris gave the door area a bonding coat and then skimmed over the full wall with a finnishing coat ready for the wall to be decorated at a later date.

Tiling shower area - This involved tiling around a shower tray from floor to ceiling which was 3mtr in height. The freshly plastered wall were primed with an acrylic primer leaving a sound surface to fix the 10x20 bick effect tiles onto. Holes were drilled in the tiles for the shower pipes to leave a professional finnish.

Tiling shower room floor - This work was carried out in the shower room of a commercial premises in the Edinburgh city centre. The work involved ripping out old rotten floor and adding additional dwangs to strengthen the floor prior to resheating with  plywood. The floor was then screwed securley into joists and then primed ready for the floor tiles to be fixed.

Plasterboarding ceiling - This involved finnishing work on a recently replaced roof in a factory. After the roofers installed this new roof, Kris insulated the ceiling and fitted new plasterboard and taped the joints.

Bathroom fitting - This was done in partnership with JK Plumbing. JK Plumbing completed all plumbing and electrics whilst Kris did all Joinery and Tiling work. Work involved resheating the walls with moisture plasterboard and lowering ceiling to take plastic cladding. The floor was reinforced and sheeted with ply and then floor and walls were tiled with 30x60 porcelain tiles.
